Wilson
parents and staff conduct walking audit.
Last May a group
of parents, Wilson staff, and the Assistant City Engineer walked the
neighborhood around Wilson looking for things that need to be improved
to make it safer to walk to school. They also looked for routes that
were safe already and may be walking school bus routes for the 06-07
school year.
The group found things
like incomplete sidewalks....

...and faded crosswalks.

Conduct a Walking Audit

The Safe Routes to School team held a walking audit to identify hazards to
walking and biking in the Frost neighborhood. The team found areas without
sidewalks or crosswalks among other hazards like loose dogs and large bushes
overhanging the sidewalk.
Make it safer to walk and bike
The team
worked to install 12 new crosswalks, 2 new no turn on red signs, and make
changes to the parking lot. The team continues to work on improvements.
Hold a kick-off event
October 6, Frost School celebrated International Walk to School Day.
Approximately 600 Frost students, parents, dignitaries and volunteers walked
