The Fitness Council sponsors a county-wide Physical Educators' Network that meets quarterly to discuss latest trends in physical education, share activity ideas, and provide professional support. The Fitness Council also gives scholarships to send PE teachers to trainings for the cutting-edge Exemplary Physical Education Curriculum (EPEC).

The Exemplary Physical Education Curriculum (EPEC) is changing the way educators think about physical education. Built around NASPE content standards and strong on assessment, EPEC is being used by thousands of teachers to strengthen physical education, and its reputation, in their communities. EPEC is developed and promoted through the Governor’s Council on Physical Fitness, Health, and Sports, and supported locally by the Fitness Council of Jackson. In 2005, a grant from the Jackson County Community Foundation made it possible for the Fitness Council to send Jackson County teachers to EPEC trainings and receive the curriculum. For more information on EPEC visit www.michiganfitness.org.
